L.M.E.A. District IX

ELIGIBILITY:

Students in grades 7 - 9 whose directors are current members of LMEA are eligible to audition. A student auditioning for the District Honor Choir must be a member of the school's vocal music program.

AUDITION DATES, FEES, AND LOCATIONS:

Jr. Hi. Honor Choir auditions are held as follows:.

Date:	October 27, 2007
Place:	Fontainebleau Jr. High Registration table is in the cafeteria.
Time:	Individual times will be assigned after registration deadline.
Fee:	• $5.00 per audition • Fees should be paid to the student's school. A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX Vocal Account, must be mailed with the registration form by the deadline to Amy Prats, 22433 Prats Rd., Abita Springs, LA 70420
Deadline:	September 28, 2007 Be aware that schools will be assessed a $50.00 late fee if this deadline is not met. Students who are registered late will be assigned whatever times are still available.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Students will be required to sing the appropriate selection from the four-year cycle listed below in his/her vocal part with CD accompaniment. CDs will be provided at the time of the audition.

2004-05 "Laudate Dominum" by Victoria, arr. by Snyder, 3-part mixed, Belwin Press

2005-06 "Sing We and Chant It" by Morley, arr. by Robinson, 3-part mixed, Alfred Press

2006-07 "O Vos Omnes" by Estes, 3-part mixed, Shawnee Press

• 2007-08 "Mon Cour Se Recommande a Vous" by DiLasso, arr. by Robinson, 3-part mixed, Alfred Press

Students will also sing the melody of "America" (not "America the Beautiful") unaccompanied in his/her vocal range.

AUDITION RESULTS:

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:

Jan. 15, 2008 - Jr. High Honor Choir Sectionals

Date:	January 15, 2008
Place:	Fontainebleau High
Time:	5:30 - 7:30 (Roll will be taken at 5:30)
Absenses/Tardies:	Students must be present and on time for ALL rehearsals and the concert. If a student is late once, they will be warned. If that person is late a second time, they will be sent home. If any student is more than 15 minutes, their circumstances will be reviewed and they are subject to immediate dismissal.
Fee:	$25.00 per participant. (CDs of the concert performance are optional and can be purchased at the concert.) Fees should be paid to the student's school. A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX Vocal Account, must be mailed with the registration form to Amy Prats, 22433 Prats Rd., Abita Springs, LA 70420 by the deadline. Please include a list of the students' names and whether they have been selected to be in the Jr. Hi. or the Sr. Hi. Choir.
Deadline:	Novemer 16, 2007 Note: This is an "IN HAND" deadline, NOT a postmark deadline. (This is an important deadline because music cannot be ordered until all moneys have been received.)
Late Fees:	Payments received after 11/16/07 will be accessed a $50 late fee. NO FEES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11/27/07. Any student whose fees have not been received by the late deadline will be dropped from the roster.
Rehearsal Dress:	Students who participate in District Honor Choir will follow their school dress code during rehearsals and performances. No spaghetti straps, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, midriff-baring shirts, or skirts above the knee will be allowed.
Concert Dress:	Senior High - Concert attire of the student's school. Women's dresses must be floor length. Junior High - Girls must be in all black. Boys must wear black slacks, white dress shirt, and tie. Note: No spaghetti straps, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, midriff-baring shirts, or skirts above the knee will be allowed.
Dress Violations:	Students not complying with all dress code requirements will not be allowed to participate. Students missing a rehearsal due to dress code violations will not be allowed to perform.

Time:	Jr. Hi. & Sr. Hi. 9:00 - 12:00 (Roll will be taken at 9:00) Jr. Hi. 1:00 - 3:00 (Roll will be taken at 1:00) Sr. High 1:00 - 4:00 (Roll will be taken at 1:00) Any school (or student) leaving practice early will not be allowed to participate on Saturday.
